Sivan's Talking Watch
The Diaries of Wilhelmina Brody Moriarty

Monday, 5 July
Writing is difficult, but not impossible.  Emily was kind enough to read to me while I rested.

Wednesday 7, July
We are on the trail back to Mhow. I practiced my meditation all morning.

Thursday 8, July
Stepfather visited me this morning; at least I think he did. It is very difficult to concentrate.

Friday 9, July
Arrived at Mhow  mid-morning. A bed that is not moving is a wonderful thing.

Saturday 10, July
Galen played page turner this morning. We had a nice discussion on the electrical properties of crystals.

Monday 12, July
Fireworks this evening the betrothal ceremony is elaborate.

Wednesday 14, July
The children are helping me pack up. My to read box is looking quite empty, I hope there is time to purchase fresh supplies of books when we arrive at Bombay.

Friday 16, July
It is late but we are back where we started a few weeks ago. Mr. Nahasapeemapetilon  met us at the train station and insisted four of his sons carry me and my cot  back to the villa. It felt like I was some holy relic paraded through the streets to scare the evil spirits away. One wonders if that was the intent.

Saturday 17, July
Lady C and her Mother visited the shrine this afternoon. It was quite the event from George’s report.

Monday 19, July
Sir C and Galen finished the clockwork braces last night. The trial run this morning seemed to go well with the use of a cane I am capable of walking for short distances. I was upon the deck when we left port we had our own little armada of ships lined up to escort us out. The spectacle was quite grand.

Tuesday 20, July
Worked on the Christmas presents this morning.  Then I took tea on deck with Mrs. Fraizer and the children.

Wednesday 21, July
I seem to be having a difficult time staying awake. Mrs. Cuthbert said it was because I was healing so quickly my body needs extra rest periods to recharge.

Friday 23, July
Asked Sir C to look at my arm it feels fine. My ribs and clavicle have been fully mended for a few days now.

Saturday 24, July
We have changed the brace on my arm to sleeve of stiff leather. I tire easily still.

Monday 26, July
Had a real bath today. Hot water was just the tonic I needed.

Wednesday 28, July
The Children and I spent today working on finishing up the animals. They did most of the work with the nursemaids assisting with the heavier pieces. Sir C joined us in the afternoon, although I suspect that was in part to assure himself that I was maintaining my pledge and not doing anything more than directing.

Thursday 29, July
The new crew is a bit skittish.

Saturday 31, July
We are in the Mediterranean Sea. In just a few more days and we will be home.

Monday 2, August
We had a small party for Caroline this afternoon. I was not the only one who smuggled a small gift aboard for her. Robert was upset that there were no presents for him.

Tuesday 3, August
Robert’s party was this morning Caroline was being a good sport and sharing her gifts but he was still put out. He awoke to a pile of presents just as big as Caroline’s was the day before. Mr Fraizer took them both aside and had a talk about it. We can see England and should be in port later today.

Wednesday, 4 August
It is good to be home. We have much unpacking to do.

Thursday, 5 August
The worst thing about sea travel is the lack of decent postal service while at sea. I need to look into rectifying this matter. Just this morning I sent off a dozen letters of my own as well as packets from Father and Albert.

Friday, 6 August
We might just as well never unpack. In a bit over a month we are to depart for Carpaina. I had to look it up it’s a small German state, or Austrian state depending on the reference book in question. One of Sir C’s distant relations is the King, He wishes Sir C  and Lord Greyminster  to witness his daughters marriage to Duke Rupert. Or more accurately he wishes Duke Rupert to witness Sir C and Namastie witnessing the marriage.

Saturday, 7 August
Most of the crystal experiments are overgrown. I will have to restart some of them.  The prime rod is perfect attaching the transference unit will occupy the rest of the afternoon.

Monday, 9 August
It is good to see Howard again. His letters were troubling.

Tuesday, 10 August
Vee is back, for what he has done this time his life is forfeit. Sir C has requested that I let him have a go at Vee first.

Wednesday, 11 August
Vee is no more. I am not sure what to feel.

Thursday, 12 August
Icky is home, I quite lost my composure upon seeing him. Edward has been asked to call upon Mr Benlevi. His note indicates that several Zacharias clocks have broken down. I hope this is caused by neglect or some other outside force, and not a hidden flaw in the mechanism.

Friday, 13 August
Final fitting today, the dress is very nice. The rest of the household are off to see Nigel’s new play I asked Namastie to bring me back a copy of the script if one is available.

Saturday, 14 August
It is late, I no not what to say other than everything was wonderful. Icky even managed to smuggle Howard along. The night ended much to early for my tastes.

Sunday, 15 August
A quiet day at the Library is the perfect tonic to counteract the weeks of hurly-burly. I shelved Namastie’s latest  acquisitions. Then I spent the rest of the afternoon researching occult clockwork.

Monday, 16 August
A letter from the Admiralty for me arrived today. How singular.

Tuesday, 17 August
A new dress fitting today, from the look of the sketches soon Wooster and I will be sharing a rank.

Wednesday, 18 August
Worked at the Bicycle works today, it looks like we might have to invest in a bigger factory soon. We are running all hours to keep up with the orders. The panzootic in America has brought about a rush of orders. Plus a few request to license some of our patens. I am indebted to Dr Wilson for his sage advice on dual patens.

Thursday, 19 August
Meeting with Master Tam I passed along what messages that father entrusted me with, that I did not care to send through the post. The plan is moving along nicely the aunts are all well and seem to be enjoying their new lives.

Friday, 20 August
I awoke early this morning to have a talk with Step-Father. I rode with him for part of his round; He then dropped me off when he picked me up.

Saturday, 21 August
A day of rest, well of light preparation for the trip to Carpania.

Monday, 23 August
Sir E is not to be hung.

Tuesday, 24, August
This afternoon I had etiquette practice with Miss Pinker. Emily joined us I am afraid she seized upon the idea of hitting people with fans, and can not get free from it.

Wednesday, 25 August
The papers are positively abuzz with stories about our trip into southern waters. One would laugh at how much they get wrong if one did not also note how much they get right. I will have to ask Miss Cuthbert if any of the reporters have the sight.

Thursday, 26 August
The awards ceremony went well. My guess was correct. I have inquired of Mr Cain about the duties of a signal corps Lt. Later on in the evening he dropped by with a bundle of books. He was on the gallop though, he needed to get to the Bombard’s  Club before the eight O’clock “ringing of the bell”. The books are a light read though I should be able to return them by Monday.

Friday, 27 August
Today was the gentlemen’s turn to be honored. Sir C blushed nicely when Namaste kissed him after the ceremony.

Sunday, 29 August
Early We have just returned from a busy day. The Admiralty wished to see what Dr Wilson’s rocket kites could do. The boys from the rocketworks were in fine form today. Based on Lt Woooster and Sir C’s demonstrations the Navy put in an order for 30 of the Mk-IV and 5 of the modified Mk-Vs, for further testing. I should tell someone about the new modifications I have for the rocket kites soon.

Monday, 30 August
Back to Otto’s today. I have been gone so long that it’s a wonder I remember where anything is. Tina in now an instructor and her presence deflected most of the attention the other students cast at me. Otto and Lady F each had me aside to talk about the salon.

Tuesday, 31 August
More dress fittings today. The silks I picked out in India are being put to good use. Then it was off to the Library I need to learn semaphore. .
