Sivan's Talking Watch
The Diaries of Wilhelmina Brody Moriarty

Friday, 14 May
There is just too much to do. If we had some way to prevent sabotage we could  use some of the pirates as a labor force. Alas as Sir Cosmo pointed out to do so would require even more marines to guard them, marines we just can not spare from what they are doing now.  We are in an impossible situation, it is just luck that we are so adept at dealing with the the impossible.

Sunday, 16 May
It's just before dawn something woke me up and it is no use trying to get back to sleep. I think I will go have a dip in the river before the others awaken.

Wednesday, 19 May
We are about out of metal to melt down. Tomorrow I will have to convert the smelter into a glass works. Emily likes the idea of my incapacitateors although she would rather them to be all pointy.

Saturday, 22 May
Tested the incapacitateors today a good hit amid ship makes the  decks quite dangerous to walk upon. There were a couple of minor injuries for all that our crew were wearing boots. One would rather have more cannons but one has to work with the resources at hand.

Monday, 24 May
Sir Cosmo and I spent the afternoon working on the control systems for the mark IV rocket kites. I have no problems but as he said not everyone can use their feet as well as George and I. The children are helping us set up some mark III kites. Octavia and Galen both want to try them out.

Friday, 28 May
Professor Oddbody promised to teach me Cuneiform.

Saturday, 29 May
Finished the repairs on the Foxglove today. It's mostly a lash-up job but without a real dry dock it's the best we can do. The children have taken to staying around the forge whenever Violet and Daru need a rest. I think it's because they like Professor Oddbody. Emily says it's because they want to be around when something I am working on blows up.

Monday, 31 May
Sir Cosmo took the Icarus to go talk to the Captain of the Arabus. I do hope they will join us we could certainly use their guns.

Wednesday, 2 June
Broke camp, tried to clean everything up. Partway through the Oompas showed up to help. Their Chief had a long conversation with Sir Cosmo. I took a final swim in the river.

Thursday, 3 June
Back on-board ship tonight. Cook is making some dish out of an octopus Lady Cowperthwaite caught.

Friday, 4 June
The battle went well but the Selene is badly damaged. Her boilers never went out and once George and the Inspector got the pumps running she was no longer in danger of sinking. I am glad that Sir Cosmo and I had the foresight to upgrade the pumps. Most of the black gang are dead as are the captain and everyone on the bridge. The Foxglove on the other hand is relatively unscathed, the bunkers we installed worked.

Friday, 4 June
/Later/
We are no longer taking on water, we have a rather large sheet of canvas pulled tight over the hole below our water line. As long as nothing touches it the water stays on the outside and the dry stays on the inside. Dinner will be taking place in half a hour, I think it's Cooks way of showing defiance.

Saturday, 5 June
Well that was interesting. When we arrive home I will have to see if Miss Mitzi has a afternoon free for Tea. The nerve of the Ma person thinking I could be bought with power and dresses. As if I have time to be responsible for London, and the dresses were all the same with only minor variations in colors. It shows a total lack of style and taste. I will miss Professor Oddbody though I hope he is happy and that someday we can finish those cuneiform lessons.
