
January 5, 1871
Final packing to head off to Goxhill is done. The Radicals have
all wished me. well Wee Willy even gave me a tin of biscuits to
eat on the trip.
January 6, 1871
It's past tea and we are still in London. Dr Wilson took off for
the colonies on quite short notice. It has left Sir C and other
scrambling to ascertain why.
January 7, 1871
Discovered a dead body today. A pressman by the name of Mr. Jokking
appeared to have been done in by a large discharge of electricity.
Some what comparable to the effect of a bally gun.
January 8, 1871
Wooster discovered a revivified salamander today not one of mine
I haven't be able to get them to do more than take a few clumsy
steps then fall over or blow up spectacularly This one was a total
success. The others want to head out now. I will never get the
brasswork done.
