September 18, 1870
We arrived back in London it is quite late. Edward did run into
Mr Dibbler while we were discharging luggage, There is now a small
sack of alleged fish and chips warming up on the boiler.
September 20, 1870
Miss Sinclair's mother showed up it time for tea yesterday lessons
were canceled.
September 21, 1870
Miss Sinclair is off with Mr Frazer and Emily is out doing errands
no class this evening. Spent the day working with Sir C and Mr
Reed.
September 23, 1870
Heading off to Goxhill tonight Howard is out of sorts about me
running off so soon but the Radicals seem to be coming along just
fine.
September 24, 1870
Lord Greyminster took us on another picnic today I managed to
slip away from Ruth and spend a good part of today sparring with
George.
September 26, 1870
Back in London Wooster is getting a medal. George, Sir C, G, and
myself were in attendance.
September 27, 1870
Back to a normal pattern of work in the morning school work in
the afternoons. Mrs Sinclair is still here Ruth is much easier
to divert onto topics I would like to talk about.
September 30, 1870
Off to Goxhill.
October 1, 1870
Miss Whitnell is off to see her clan. Ruth and Frazer made the
pronouncement that they plan to wed in 4 weeks. I think they were
going to wait till tomorrow to do it but Miss Whitnell's departing
forced Ruth's hand.
October 3, 1870
Was up Late last night. I took Humphry a collection of shilling
shockers and some small toys. Will sleep on the train.
October 4, 1870
Emily wants a project done I have said yes on the condition that
she assist me. Hopefully she will learn something the girl is
dreadfully undereducated.
October 5, 1870
Mr Cuthbert became Sir Spencer the party is still going on. I
even saw G dancing with Mrs Murphy. It's nice to see everyone
in a good mood for a change.
October 6, 1870
Edward went to visit Mr Brown tonight. Didn't make it all the
way in to see him before gaurdsman Jeffers caught him. Mr Brown
was quite pleased with Jeffers. Edward and Mr Brown played a couple
of games of chess and discussed life in London.
October 7, 1870
Back to Goxhill the ushers at the train station have printed up
train timetables with Sir C's special on it as a lark.
October 8, 1870
Work progresses on Emily's project she has a steady hand and a
good eye for detail but an un fortunate tendency to drop, literally
in some cases, what ever she is working on when a man steps into
the room.
October 10, 1870
Stopped off at the B, C, & R powered boat company on the way
back to the London House. Sir C has some important meeting he
had to attend and Edward wants to get back to work on the sinkable
boat.
October 11, 1870
Mr Reed and I spent a good part of the morning tramping around
the shipbuilding yard in the powered diving suit frameworks picking
things up and lugging them around. He asserted it was the most
fun he has had since he discovered toy boats.
October 13, 1870
I took Miss Sinclair to the Museum Reading room today. Her mother
came along. I had George guard her while Me and Ruth explored
through the stacks.
October 15, 1870
Went to a fair. Edward won Sir Spenser a lot of money just by
eating a pie.
October 16, 1870
Emily's project is done. It looks fairly realistic but I think
we could have done better if we could have found an small analytical
engine.
October 17, 1870
Emily now needs a box to send her project through the mails I
will see what I can find.
October 19, 1870
Started adding the skin to the powered diving suits, I have dubbed
one the Sinkable Namaste.
October 20, 1870
Wooster managed to be frightened almost out of his skin by Emily's
project. But on the bright side the armor plating held up despite
many sword slashes and as many as 5 blows with a fireplace poker.
The rabbit is being kept in one of the inner offices of the bombardiers
club. Caine stopped in for a visit and has asked me to please
not make another without consulting him first.
October 21, 1870
Trafalgar Day, No work at the shipyards the Vicker added a nice
piece about remembering all men who go down to the sea. Mr Reed
is still upset about the HMS Captain there were tears in his eyes
during most of the service.
October 22, 1870
Back in Goxhill, I need to start work on my Guy, Lord Greyminster's
people directed me to a store that has everything I need.
October 23, 1870
I told Humphry about my plans for the Guy. He looked kind of sad
that he couldn't attend the fair. Next time I visit I will bring
stuff so he can make a Guy.
October 25, 1870
In London spent most of the morning inside the bow of what will
be the HMS Gorgon bucking rivets at noon Mr Reed asked me if I
knew any other young boys who would like a job as a buckman. I
said I would ask around.
October 26, 1870
I brought a couple of the Radicals into the shipyard with me Boc
because he is mad about anything that floats, and Sledgely because
he can crawl under or between anything. Mr Reed gave them a good
talking to about working hard but not neglecting their schooling.
Like he needed to add that part. One of them will work in the
morning the other will work in the afternoon the rest of the time
they will have to be at the mission school down the street. They
are currently rolling bones to see who gets to pick the shifts.
October 29, 1870
I am quite upset with Miss Sinclair at the moment she had the
gall to threaten to reveal my secret to everyone. How dare she,
it's not her life she is throwing away it is mine. I will have
to meditate on where to go if that information becomes known to
the public at large
Possibly America.
October 31, 1870
It's My birthday. George and I climbed up the side of ben this
morning and meditated on the sunrise.
