Sivan's Talking Watch

The Diaries of Wilhelmina Brody

(Gentle reader: This manuscript came into our possession without note or explanation. The handwriting is a very compact, somewhat florid script. Internal evidence indicates that the author is associated with the household of Sir Cosmo Cowperthwaite, Bart. However, we have not been able to verify either her exact identity or her relationship to the persons named herein. - the Editors)

Edward did not return home this morning. I fear that he might have fallen and hurt himself. If I do not hear word of him by noon I will venture out. Noon, the household received a post. Edward has been captured by the young Cobb and they are holding him for ransom. I fear I must go see what I can do to win his freedon.

It is late as I write this. Edward has been returned safely. Of the past day's events, where does one begin? The Young Cobb, it turns out, is mine and Edward's grandfather. This news comes as a bit of a shock but it doeas explain why Mother went to such trouble to try to find me. Grandfather offered a rather large sum of money to her if I could be delivered to him. In an unfortunate turn of events I suspect the the young Cobb passed beyond the veil. I will wear black for the proscribed time but one can not help but wonder what like would be like had I been raised in the Moriarty household.
