3 May 1875
Dear Lord Sir Mr Shiva,
Please pardon any presumption on my part
in writing this letter, as I wish to address a matter of
great concern with you and am unsure as the best manner to go about
such things.
It has come to my attention that a man with whom I
had a previous marital alliance has come under your sway and is now an
avatar of your Hand on Earth. It is my understanding that he
became such under dire circumstances that were possibly manufactured
for the purpose.
From what I have been able to ascertain, your
agents,
an unsavory man by the name of Mercer and an as-yet-unnamed priest in
the Safed Koh mountains in North West India, conspired to put a Captain
William Robert Forrester in a situation where he was forced to make a
terrible choice-- face a slow death in the prison of the fortress, or
murder a comrade to buy his own freedom.
That it was his own choice to give in to such a
diabolical impulse and murder a man who considered him friend fills me
with horror and despair. However, it has further been brought to
my attention that the selection of Captain Forrester for his role in
current events may not have been accidental, and that your long-running
feud with Miss Kali may have informed your decision in this
matter. If this is the case, it does not reflect well on you.
That one such as you would be party to magnifying
the faults of this man to the point that they seem to have swallowed up
what ever was good and honorable about him in the past infuriates me
beyond belief. I am writing to you to see if there is some way
remedy this situation. It is not right or good that a man who has
proven himself to have such weak moral character have care and
responsibility for such powers as he currently possesses through
your agency.
Sincerely,
Mrs Victoria Salmalin
