Dearest Prudence,

I am often a man of few words in person, but I find myself with so many to say and yet so few that can describe how happy I am that you will soon be my bride. I am so very lucky to have someone so clever, so beautiful, so charming as you as part of my life today. And I may be am often thick and foolish, but not so much to both realize and wonder at the incredible luck that I have that you saw something in me before I truly appreciated how wonderful you are. Now that I do, I must make up for my past foolishness. I love you like no other.

You, knowing both my faults and my strengths, know that there was someone else who came before. You know that I have a son that I never knew of before, and yet you still are here. Perhaps all those years of not knowing is what kept me from actively finding a new love, now that  long ago chapter is closed, fate smiled upon me in that here you are. Who could possible by more perfect for me, Dear Prudence, than you? I long to see your smile again.

Excerpt Of Letter to Katheryn O’Flaherty:

Wher wus I. (Unintelligible) about being a Milloi  Mill   rich. I m also a kniht two or three times over. (Unintelligible) tries to make me knigt agin but he can bug(unintelligible with line crossed through) jump in his lake. I writ that before to you, yes? Weilding The sword from the stone, going incognito as Ammrakius. Good thing (Unintelligible) King of England to an Irishman. Ha hah.

Let’ssee. Oh yes, found out about Rose, writ that. Found out because of son I never knew. Oh yes, Now that that matter has been cleared up. I’ve found the only woman I could have loved as much as Rose, and for different reasons. Yet somehow, despite knowing everything about me, she has agreed to marry me. If you throw this letter in the ashes, you’ll still find out one way or the other. I’m inviting Jimmy and all the rest to England for the wedding, and for some vacation if you like. They call it “on holiday” up here.  I’ll pay for the whole thing. The invitation is of course to you also, because despite everything I still love you. And iffn you don’t, or if you try to make my dear Prudence feel anything other than a welcome addtion to our happy family, say whatever you like about me, but anything about her or you just don’t show, the Devil take ye, that’s MY line in the sand. Curse me, or pretend I’m not there, but please come with the rest.

Your son,

Seamus Michael
