Another reason to never sleep

My Dear Mrs. Gallant,

What a pleasant surprise to receive your letter. I did dearly hope that my correspondence would reach Junior and Doc Boy, but it further clarifies the urgency in which they left for the states. Now with Wilson associated with them, Pinkerton has another reason to never sleep. Ha ha. But, I am delighted to have the opportunity to write to you. I’ve thought often of the performer gatherings you hosted during the off season while I’ve been out of the United states. For all the importance the British put upon tea, I have yet to meet anyone in this country who can brew a pot as perfectly as you can.

I was delighted to hear what some of the old gang is up to. I do not even know who has gone on to which show. I do remember Emma, and I actually knew why she spent so much time with Ajax, though I always thought he was more interested in various bits of fire theatrics for illusionists. But I always knew Emma would grow into a lovely young woman, find some nice young man, and blow him to bits. Ha ha. I always thought Farini as more of an acrobat with a bent to physics than a firework tinkerer. I hope that he knows what he’s doing.

Did Junior and Obidiah pass on some of my stories from our last meeting? I’ve gotten a bit of a taste for the importance of work that Les and Junior are doing for Alan Pinkerton up here with some members of the British government here. Actually, I should not have said that. But I’m certain you have your fill of the secretive things with your boys.

You must be very busy running the show. I think that whatever the production, it is better under your guidance. I give both Les and Junior a good ribbing about who holds the title, but for my money, it’s you that is the true “Great” Leslie. Say “hello” for me to everyone when you get the chance.

I hope that all is well with you and wish for your every success this season.

Your friend,

Seamus O’Flaherty
