Monday
Finally got a decent night's sleep. Had some lovely choclate with
breakfast. They make extremely good chocolate on the
continent. I must start saving it against our trip home.
Sometime over night, Mrs. Samaline's brother and a bunch of gypsies
arrived. We now have an encampment out in the fields.
After breakfast I had my first regular weapon practice in what seems
like forever. I'm feeling a bit more clumsy than usual. I wonder
if it's because of erratic practice or because of Them...
Sir Cosmo gave Lady Namaste, Galen, Willamina, and I a job to work on
repairing some of the Fate etheric pulse weapons. I spent a lot
of time making glass balls.
Suddenly Lady Namaste started talking to that wierd lady in the
mirror. She came back and said that the crazy lady definitely did
NOT have 3 witches and a Giant of ours trapped and that we should go
start blowing up country houses till we find them. There didn't
seem to be much mention of talking to Sir Cosmo first, so I decided to
see if I could make the DFT work again. I found Helen asleep in
the sun and woke her up. I tried to explain why we needed sir
cosmo, and she sent the message off to Simon. Then I went to find
mr. Samaline since I thought he might like to know that his wife is
potentially missing. After that I went back to check on Lady
Namaste and Wilamina. They were looking at dresses.
The next thing I know, we're in carriages heading off to the Baroness's
house. Luckily, Sir Cosmo and Simon met us along the way.
We were shown into the house and headed into the parlor. Then
things got confusing. There were lots of thumps and squeals and
His gatling pistol and Lady Namaste headed back into the hall followed
by Wilamina. There were werewolves. There was a man running
down the stairs and taking off his clothes! I screamed and
then had to yell to Wilamina to Close Her Eyes! Then there was a
sudden arm around me and George was dragging me and Wilamina down the
stairs just ahead of the big boom and yelling that Wilamina wasn't kid
rocket and that rockets inside were a bad idea.
Then it got even more confusing. Wilamina and George slowly faded
out of sight. The Sun started going really fast and then it was
dark. Only there were all kinds of speedy ghosty shapes zooming
around. And then all our party started just appearing, but still
ghosty. Sir Cosmo ghosted in, picked up a couple of sticks, and
then everything froze for just a moment. Then we were all solid
and moving normal and there were new strangers in the room. I
know one of them was the baroness because I've seen her at all these
parties. But she was nearest and I was sure I'd just been
magicked and I really had to go for something. Only then a hand
came around from the side and a wolf paw sliced across my face.
Dang but that hurt!
Wilamina and George joined in the fight and we started doing some major
damage. But she could still hit pretty hard. Then Mr. Atlas
yelled my name and threw me his big glowy sword. The baroness was
down by this point, but I figured another hit with this sword might
keep her down.
By this point, all the targets in the below area were either dead or
surrendured (and thus Not Fair Game). Wilamina and I climbed up
to the ground level part. Just as I finished climbing up, I
looked down and saw Mrs. Samaline, Miss Metzger, and Mrs Cuthbert
chanting and floating 3 feet off the ground. After making sure my
note was firmly in place, I looked for something to fight. After
all, I had a big sword and anxiety. Luckily, there was a big wolf
going toward Woster and Cain and us. Yea!
4 strikes later, there were 4 pieces of werewolf on
the ground. I heard a noise behind me, turned around, and sliced
another werewolf in 2 pieces. Ow, but that hurt too. It
knocked me over, but that was good because Manfred flew right overhead
and not in terribly good control.
Then there was a big blowing noise. When the blowing was over,
the tower was down in a pile. A pile that used to have a bunch of
my friends at the bottom. And Wooster was down. I'm afraid
I went a little crazy. I went toward the big wolf. He
swatted me something fearsome. I was thrown 30 feet and hurt
more. I wasn't doing so great by this point. I was tossed
again, and that's the last thing I remember until a lot later.
When I woke up again, I was laying on the ground near the ruins of the
tower. The wolves were finally taken care of and returned to the
lake. Now I'm really not swimming in it!
