We had an interesting interruption to our tea this evening. Graves stopped in to let me know that there was a visitor. A young lady had stopped by wondering if I was still interviewing for the lady’s maid position. I didn’t know I was looking for a lady’s maid. Where would she go? I mean I don’t have a house or anything. After some hemming and hawing, Lady C reminded me that we could do an interview and have Graves do a background check. We could let the young lady know in a few days. That was good because then I didn’t have to hurt her feelings. I’m also very glad that she decided to go to the interview with me. That was an interesting interview. They could turn out to be quite fun if they are all like that...
The next morning, Graves informed us that Agatha did stop by the agency that the poor girl came from and they would likely be sending more. Since we are heading out of town this afternoon, I’ll leave a note letting them know not to send anyone for a few days and another note at Otto’s begging for help. Hopefully she will have some suggestions...
Went to Doverton Abey today. When it came time to go down to the horrible room, I was careful to stay very far away from the platform. I don’t have any desire to go back wherever we were. But wherever we were came to us. The floor unexpectedly went down and came up with Evie on it. I thought we were somehow on the ship again and had to start watching out for the floor. Then I remembered that the floor was how we escaped the last time we were here.
Evie started chanting and some pretty lights showed up from the control board. Then there were glowy lights and and new person showed up. I made sure that my note was on, but it didn’t seem very alarming. Then there was lots of time asking questions, answering questions, and working on the platform thing. Some of it got very... Deep. We seem to be descended from some very odd beings. And the naturalist in Mrs. Frazer can have a one track mind. Thank heavens He went with Victoria to go work on inventory.
On Saturday we headed back to London to go to Her house for Sunday dinner. There was more pushing for Him to be in Parliament. I reminded Him that He wouldn’t be able to be a bombard member. While Agatha was polite in asking us, now I know why. I was happy to get back to Snodbury and Dahlia.
Lots of inventorying.
We all went back to London the next weekend because Sir Cosmo and Sir Spencer took us all to the operah. It was... Interesting, I suppose. I don’t quite think I understood what was going on.
Lots more inventory. It’s been nice staying with Dahlia.
We’ll be heading back to London pretty soon.
Proceed to Excitement
after all
