Excerpts from the diary of Mrs Emily Wooster (Emily Bertilde that was)

Mad Hety took us down to see the little girl. Evie, her name is. Down in the crypts. We had to go behind a statue before we could get to her. I didn’t know there were tunnels under the river. I wish I didn’t know we are so close to being under the river. Everything is all damp and kind of slimy. I hope I can get the stains out of my dress. At least I’m wearing one of my gray dresses. They are easier to clean anyway. And don’t show the dirt quite so much. Anyway, we finally made it to a room that looked more used. There was suddenly a silvery light and an angel with a sword. I asked if this was a soul sucking kind of angel or what. Mr. Oflayerty said something and suddenly there was more silver light from his eyes and all. More of that light show wierdness. Then Mr. Oflayerty fell to the ground and there was Evie. The little girl we’ve been looking for so long. I’m glad that she said, “finally one of the good ones.” Mr. Oflayerty doesn’t look so good. He looks a bit disorganized.

Atlas asked how to cope and Evie said that she sometimes had to tell them to shut up. Then Evie called edward an Atlantean and said maybe he could open the door. My first fear was that the door Evie was talking about was another ring door to another vessel. But she was talking about the arch on the wall. The next thing I knew Edward was climbing on the arch and pushed a stone that did something. Then he suddenly opened the door. We followed him in and there was suddenly light that looked like it was reflecting off water. The other room had wall carvings and another ring in the middle. It’s a big room. I wanted to stay away from all the floor markings, but I had to follow
Edward around. Then that daft man of mine went into the circle. I’m glad nothing seems to have happened to Him. He started babbling about patterns.

As Mr. Oflayerty was warning Him against touching things, he stepped on the black arrow and made a ghost showed up. Ooops. The ghost spoke in latin and edward translated.... something about sticking a dagger and standing and yielding. I didn’t get it. Then something about stealing and eating words. Oh, it was doing riddles. I’m so not good at riddles. Although I almost got the hourglass and sundial one...

Nooooooooooooo. oh bother. We all made it up to another somewhere. At first I kept worrying about the floors, but Edward kept reassuring me that they were solid stone flooers. Then the ghost showed up and told us we were in the chamber of wisdom. Edward and Evie started asking questions. As part of it, I found out that we aren’t up. We seem to be down. In a representation of the ship. Lots of conversation that I didn’t follow too well. I figured that this was as agood a time as any to update my diary. I’m glad I started keeping it in one of my pockets. One never knows when there will be a boring minute I can practice my penmanship in. oh. my. We just found out that a transmission originated from Sir Spencer’s house. sounds like trouble. You know. Our standard state of being...

It has been a crazy bit of time. Edward contacted Mrs Cuthbert and we found out that it was Mrs. Frazer that was transmitted to the Shadow vessel. Mrs. Cuthbert and the rest of the party joined us and most of the party headed up to the Shadow ship. I stayed behind because Edward stayed to work the controls. Part of me was feeling like I should go up and join in the fight, but part of me was absolutely terrified of those Shadow people and the ring transporter thing, and part of me was bound and determined to stay with Edward. it was a very difficult decision.

After not very long, Everyone but Atlas and Cosmo were back. Thankfully with Mrs. Frazer. And shortly after that, Atlas and Cosmo came back. Henry asked where the boom was and the being said, “let me show you the replay.”

A short time layter, we were suddenly back in the room we started in. Lillian was on the arrow and arguing with the merlin being. mrs. F needed to get home, but Edward needed to talk to Atlas and Evie. Of course, i needed to stay with him. while Atlas and Evie were deciding what to do, edward started talking to the merlin thing.

So tired. I hope this wraps up soon

Noooooo! Atlas and Evie just said that they need to go back up to the Vorlon ship to meet up with something there. I don’t want to go back up! Maybe something will change it so we don’t need to. In any case, it doesn’t look like it’s going to happen now. Atlas and Evie are chatting and Edward is talkign to the Merlin thing. Since I haven’t slept in something like 2 days, I think I’m going to take at least a nap...

I was very startled this morning to wake up and find Evie and the Comte talking to the Merlin machine. I was also startled at how long I had slept. However, I do know that I was really tired. Anyway, the Comte said that when we went up to the other room, we’d find a cranky Comtess. I guess the Merlin machine wouldn’t let her come down.

Edward went out for breakfast. He brought runny eggs, sausages, kippers, soldiers. I guess the soldiers are ok. What about a nice, solid breakfast of porridge? Oh, edward pulled some of that out of his box too. Then I noticed that the dishes are awfully nice. I made him promise to take them back when we are done. And wash them first. In the normal way, not it carbolic acid. It was also nice to get the hamper that the party sent. That was very thoughtful of them.

The Comte worked out how to get the other piece of Vorlon down without having to go up. Whew! I’m very happy not to go back up. All the Cosh pieces are reunited. Now the question is how to contact the other Coshes and make them stop hurting people. The others arrived at some point and decided to send a message to the Coshes.

Well, that’s a fine how do you do. The Coshes replied that holding another a Cosh is considered a declaration of war. So now we are going to try and meet them at bunhill field (hopefully away from people) in an hour or so. We want to convince them that we aren’t holding our Cosh by force. Our Cosh says that if they don’t believe us, they might become even more unpleasant.

We survived both meetings of the Shadow. I hope we now survive the meeting of the Angels.

Well. That was... Interesting. As we stood in the field there was suddenly a sound and a wind. Then there were suddenly 3 more Coshes surrounding us. And there was suddenly a very painful light show. And voices in my head. I was startled and had to refer to my note when I was asked who I was. Shortly after that, I was shown a picture of Him and asked why He was trustworthy. I told them, just between us, that he wasn’t smart enough to live a lie. Then there was more light show between the Coshes. I know Victoria was talking to them, but I’m afraid I missed out on the rest. The light show got to be a bit too paiful.

Anyway, they eventually all went away except for Evie who was going to fix the people who had gotten hurt. Evie was able to help Davie and we just dropped him off at Wonkas. Now we’re on our way home.

oh. my. Agatha. Don’t have time to write more. She was here when we got home and now I’m about to be dragged off by her. I hadn’t changed in 2 days and I wanted a moment to change and clean up. Thank goodness for Tatvick. What have I gotten myself into?!?

Well, it has certainly be an interesting evening.

Agatha had been waiting for us. She asked Him where His checkbook was. I knew it was a mistake to ask for it! Anyway, when She found out that I had it, I knew I was in trouble. In short, I was terrified. Then She asked me if I had already run out of pin money. Pin money? I had no clue what She was talking about. And the look She gave me when I asked what it was. The She started into Him about not taking care of my future. I didn’t understand The Look She gave me when I told Her I was a good girl and had my wages. I am a good girl. I won’t make anyone pay my way through life! Then She started going on about how maybe I wasn’t the gold digger that She thought I was, that maybe He was taking advantage of me! Imagine that... She wanted to take me away right then to get papers drawn up.

Then it was like a voice in my head urging me to take the part of my husband. It was almost the oddest feeling I have ever had.

To sum things up, He very sweetly asked me if we could come to an agreement on the checkbook. He could have it if I could oversee the book keeping. At that point I was sent off for the checkbook so that we could go get paperwork figured out. That was when I changed clothes and penned the earlier scribble. It has been a most trying evening. Oh, and we’ve been invited to luncheon at Her house this Sunday. Since we’re heading up to Edenfield on Thursday, we’ll have to come back Saturday. But it was amazing. She was actually civil in the luncheon invitation. He almost didn’t know how to deal with Civil. We shall have see how things play out...
