i found out about those horrible baby farmers! i also found out that my missing girl was a victim. i was most outraged. i was so outraged that i almost went straight to sir cosmo to offer my assistance. the girls were afraid to talk to the police, see, because they didn't want to lose whatever jobs they had managed to find. but they knew me and would talk to me.
i'm terribly glad i went to the ladies to help me find the right people in charge. they found out that otto was part of the inquiry. together, we were able to interview many of the women and bring many of the monsters to justice.
most of the party finally settled at goxhill manor (where sir cosmo's grandfather lives). it is a pleasant enough sort of place, but i find that i miss london. i need to see to my girls. i need to be somewhere familiar. so, since edward and sir cosmo also have work to do in london, miss sinclare and i will accompany them back to london during the week. on fridays, we shall take the train back up to goxhill and spend the weekend.
oh. my. i don't know what else to say. i was given the most marvelous gift! the only thing better i've ever gotten in my whole life was the wonderful blade from anry. the ladies have gifted me with a fancy dress! and such a dress! they have been planning this forever. i can tell because it uses all the fabrics and laces that i admired over on the continent. i have a green silk gown with french lace! i installed a hook in the cieling and have hung my new gown where i can see it every day. they even had it fitted up with all of our designs to make it easy to get out if we need to fight. i pray that i never need fight in it. if anyone were to ever damage it, i'm not sure i could stay sane enough to keep from killing them!
hee, hee! i have the most marvelous plan! wooster has been getting too big for his britches ever since that award he got. i happened to remember that wooster is terrified of rabbits! who could possibly be terrified of food? anyway, since finding live rabbits is too much work (and requires that i go ask permission of the earl of grayminster), i went to edward with a favor. he had me take apart a bunch of clocks to help him. see he's going to build me a clockwork rabbit. i even spent money on rabbit skins to cover it. now i just have to think of a place to spring it on him. miss sinclare told me i couldn't do it at cosmo's house... mayhap i should post it to him at his bombard club... that would be worth spending postage for. as long as i could be somewhere near the building when he gets it...
so, miss sinclare is marrying mr. frazer. i thought that they were going to wait, but they started the process of having the banns read. they will be married in 3 weeks now. miss sinclare's mother came for a visit. i'm sure she's a well meaning woman, but she drives me to distraction. i don't understand her, and i'm sure she doesn't understand what i do. she hates the thought of me going by myself into london. so i have to sneak away from her. it will be a great relief when she goes.
i did it! i posted wooster's gift and snuck over to watch the bombard club. ooo... the goings on! the singing stopped. there was a moment of silence, and then there was lots of yelling (more than usual, anyway). it was almost like disturbing an antihill. people came boiling out. some were laughing and some looked slightly disturbed. finally wooster staggered out. he looked haggard and pale. it was only later that i found out that he somehow embedded a poker in a flagstone. a most satisfactory end to the scheme! maybe that will teach him!
miss sinclare is now mrs frazer. it was a lovely wedding. simple yet elegant. and the party afterward was nice too. unfortunately, mrs sinclare decided to stick around because she didn't want me to be so alone in the house. like i'm lonely! i have more company now than i've ever had in my life. and edward keeps me so busy that i don't have time to be lonely. especially when you consider that i'm teaching my girls again. bother. more entertaining a proper lady and then sneaking away from her...
i missed a fight! edward had the gall to go get in a fight without me there to help with the thrashing! when he knows i would have helped him bring some justice to the whelp that beat on such a small child. besides, if i had been there, edward wouldn't have come home limping on both legs. i shall have to give him more instruction on not getting hurt while fighting.
we are back in goxhill for sir cosmo and miss namaste's wedding. people are beginning to show up. the house is getting very crowded. but i'm going to get to wear my new gown soon!
Proceed to Waily! Waily!
